About the Northwater Alliance

The NorthWater Alliance was created by the Watershed Center Grand Traverse Bay and the Water Studies Institute of Northwestern Michigan College, in partnership with the Freshwater Roundtable.  The Freshwater Roundtable is an ad hoc association of water protection organizations centered in the Grand Traverse Bay area.  The Roundtable was initiated by Rotary Camps and Services and conducted a survey in late 2008 and early 2009 of water-related organizations in Northwest Lower Michigan.  That survey formed the basis for the information contained in this website.

Support for the NorthWater Alliance website was provided by the Herrington-Fitch Family Foundation, while support for the initial survey of organizations was provide by Rotary Camps and Services.

Listing in the NorthWater Alliance website is open to non-profit water-related organizations.  If your organization is interested in joining the NorthWater Alliance website, please contact Andy Knott at the Watershed Center at aknott@gtbay.org.
